Care of lambs and kids
When contacting for availability, please provide some information about yourself and farm. I do screen all buyers; must prove yourself to be a knowledgeable breeder (or seeking knowledge) of the species you are interested in. If you have a web page, please provide your address.
I am always available to answer questions about the care, maintenance and medical treated of each species. First time farmers, or those who are expanding to welcome a new species can inquire about housing, fencing, equipment, feed, hay, etc. I have researched each species extensively, and I love to share my knowledge and experience. If needed, I can provide a list of 'should-have' medications, supplements and medical supplies.
In case of an emergency, please call my cell -- any time! (609-304-4347)
All of the sheep are registered and have pedigree papers. Their papers and medical records are provided at the time of sale.
The sheep and goats are up-to-date on CD/T and rabies shots. Their fecal is tested every few months for bacteria and parasite loads. We do not have a problem with coccidiosis or abnormal parasites loads. The animals are wormed with traditional chemicals when needed, between treatments we employ organic methods that greatly reduce the amount and frequency of chemical treatments.
The kids and lambs are protected against bacteria and parasites before and after they are born. The does and ewes are given a series of wormer and vaccines starting one month before kidding and lambing; this strengthens the babies' immune system. After birthing, they receive three coccidiosis vaccines (at 3, 6 and 9 weeks), three wormer treatments (at 4, 8 and 12 weeks), and two CD/T vaccines (at 4 and 6 weeks). All kids and lambs require rabies vaccine at 4 months of age.
